Aircraft: An aircraft is a vehicle that is able to fly through the air or the atmosphere of planet. Objects which are not supported by air such as most rockets and missiles are not aircraft.

There are various types of aircraft.

Fig: Types of Aircraft

    Types of aircraft:

1. Lighter than air:

            (i) Airship

            (ii) Free Ballon

            (iii) Captive Ballon

2. Heavier than air

            (i) Power Driven

            (ii) Non-power Driven

                        (a) Sailplane

                        (b) glider

                        (c) Kites

            (iii) Man Power Driven

Power Driven Aircrafts: There are mainly 3 types of power-driven aircraft. These are,

    (1) Aeroplane

    (2) Rotorcraft

                (i) Helicopter (Rotor Powered)

(ii) Gyroplane ( Rotor not Powered)

                (iii) Cyclogyro (Paddlewheel type rotor)

    (3) Ornithopter

Aeroplane: We can divide aeroplanes into 3 parts mainly. Those are,

    (i) Land Plane

    (ii) Seaplane

                (a) Float

                (b) flying

    (iii) Amphibian

Spacecraft: A spacecraft is a vehicle or machine designed to fly in outer space. A type of artificial satellite, spacecraft are used for a variety of purposes, including communications, Earth observation, meteorology, navigation, space colonization, planetary exploration, and transportation of humans and cargo.

    Ways to fly:

1. Lighter than air

2. Pushing fire downward

3. Pushing air downward
